Times Square statue

Wandering around Times Square, for something to photograph, I noticed this statue and thought it looked interesting as a silhouette against theatre hoardings in the background.

The statue is of George M. Cohan, who was a famous figure in the New York City theater scene just after the turn of the last century. Little Johnny Jones, his first big Broadway hit introduced his songs "Give My Regards To Broadway" and "The Yankee Doodle Boy". His statue was erected in the 1960's in recognition of musical contributions to the war effort through his songs "You're a Grand Old Flag" and "Over There."
